 Chhatrapati Shivaji  Leadership, Bravery (1627 - 1680) INTRODUCTION BIRTH AND EARLY YEARS MILESTONES • The history of India is incomplete without the history of Marathas and Shivaji is the nucleus of Maratha history. • Shivaji Bhosle, also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle was the founder of Maratha empire in western India in 1674. • He inspired and united the common man to fight against the tyranny of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, by inculcating a sense of pride and nationality in them. The famous freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897 at Oriya bazaar of Cuttack district Orissa. His father Janaki Nath Bose was a famous lawyer and his mother Prabhavati Devi was a devout and religious lady. Unlike other prominent leaders of the Indian freedom struggle, Subhas strongly believed that an armed rebellion was necessary to wrest independence from the British.
